    *NEW* Classic Valve Caps!!!

Love it or hate it this is my version of a valve cap for a classic valve.

The hole in the back if for a burst disc to make these safe. caps are side drilled to use a spanner wrench to install them.

note: the uninstalled cap has not yet been drilled.....the one pictured on the valve is the 1st piece off the mill.

Why the hole for the spanner wrench? Hand tight should do it

I agree. But, it's probably not a bad idea to have just in case. I personaly would tighten it by hand and use the spanner to make it easier to remove.

Especially if you leave it in the valve when you install the burst disc with a wrench.

I like them burst disks. Always wondered why no one made a flush disk.

I like it, but no way to take that flat surface off and just be rounded?

  19. #19
Typical burst discs seat up on one end against a surface with a hole in it. I'm sure that end is fine.

However, the housing for the burst disc can't be screwed all the way in. For instance, that GA burst low profile design doesn't look like it can be screwed all the way in to this cap, given how long the threaded portion is.

Might want to think this one through.

    Definitely not on the A-Team.

Very interested in seeing some of these produced. I need one for a project I'm working on. I would love to see the look of one with just a flat round back like the back of a X-Valve with an allen wrench hole to help get it off. If a burst disk is really needed as a safety feature then I guess it would be good to have one that doesn't look like the brass square ones on tanks.

Did this fizzle out? Not much chatter from XMT lately.

I was on vacation for the last week. The valve caps are done....Just need to get them clear anodized and order the burst disks and orings. I may ship some raw for people that want custom colors. They cannot be used raw because they are 7075 and will corrode.

The machine shop is in full swing. making an adapter rail for a guy to mount a chord body on a dye grip frame.

    itch'n for some action

Any thoughts on an aluminum classic front section? Oh how I would love to send it all in for an anno, but powder coat may have to do.

I have about 30 of the caps done. Just need to drill + tap them for the burst disks. Really busy with some other projects so it might be a month or so.

Any chance you would sell the one that is completed already?
