    ninja SL tanks?

Does anyone know if you can purchase just the SL tank without reg? I've got a new v2 on a ancient tank that is junk in a month or 2. I'd like to use a SL but may have to just buy a cheap something used and put my reg on it.

you can not. in general, you can't buy new tanks without a regulator. what i would do in your case, if you want a new sl tank, is to remove the v2 regulator that you have, and sell it. then use those funds to help offset the cost of a new tank.

some observations about the 68 and 77 sl tanks: the 77 sl is a little longer than the old 68, but standard 68 tank covers fit them with no problem. the 68 sl is shorter than the old 68, and standard 68 covers are too long...kind of a pain.

Thanks for the info. Kinda what I figured. I've thought about selling my wife's crossfire reg and putting my v2 on it. Then buying a 68sl. May have to go that rout. But then I'll have to find a used 68sl in great shape..... Hmmmmm. Decisions decisions all because my tank is 15 years old.

I had 3 of my 5 tanks hit the 15yr lifespan this year. When I asked Ninja last time they said I couldn't buy one from them and to contact a local dealer. I never got around to it but perhaps a dealer can buy only a tank for you.

Does anybody have the actual lengths of the SL tanks. I can't seem to find how long a 45/4500 SL is anywhere. I remember seeing a picture comparing normal tanks to the SL tanks but can't find it and don't remember if the 45/4500 was on there.

OH! Plesant surprise! 12-15 is my final month hydro is good in. So I can hold off and get a tank on someone's winter clearance at the end of the year! Or catch a deal if I find one! And here I thought my hydro was up in may.

3 of 5. Ouch! That would suck. I can't really complain about mine. This is only the second tank I've ever used as my primary. And my wife's was hydroed last year. So its got a lot of life left.

Hmmm. Yah that was posted here at one time. I've compared my tank with the newer 68sl. I love the shorter tank. But 68 or 77 will be my shopping. Just a matter of what I can find.

I looked more and found these, unfortunately the 45/4500 isn't listed

A 68 tank cover barely fits my 90 and a 45 cover barely fits my 68.

i have exact weights and sizes of the old 68, 68 sl and 77 sl. i actually need to make a video comparing them all...i'll probably do that this weekend. the 45 will likely not be included in any old comparison, as that size tank *just* came out.

here are my notes of the 68 and 68 sl (old 68 standard reg had a steel bonnet, and is 1/4" shorter than the pro v2 reg):

    Ninja SL 68/4500 w/ pro v2 reg:
    1 lb 15.2 oz; 10 1/2" long; 13 3/4" diameter

    Ninja 68/4500 w/ standard reg:
    2 lb 6.4 oz; 10 5/8" long; 13 3/4" diameter

Lol. Now that I see the length difference in the 68 or 77. I'd rather find a 68 when I get hot on shopping. Will go great with my compact Y design. For now though I have till December with my trusty old cylinder

Unless I'm mistaken the new 45 45 is the same length as the 68. Much smaller width.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to get a 45/4500 at some point. I never liked using the stubby little tanks while playing pump.

Well the 6 month old one will stay regardless on my wife's tank if anything. But since I realised last night that I have till the end of the year to replace my tank. Not the end of may. I'll be monitoring classifieds till then. And worse come to worse buy a new tank. Or buy a used tank and put the v2 on it. No big deal either way.
