Thread: Best way to remove the barrel twist-lock assembly?

  1. #1

Question Best way to remove the barrel twist-lock assembly?

I have recently bought an ULE body and as I've read on the forum, I need to "stamp out" the twist-lock assembly.

What would be the best way to go about doing this since I don't have access to a press? I took the spring and the pin out of the assembly, then pounded it with a hammer and a metal rod about the same size as the twist-lock mechanism (from the "top" of rail) and it's moving out really slowly. I just want to make sure I am doing it correctly and not destroying anything.

    Thanks!

half of mine fall out. try putting some oil on it and see if that helps. if your not going to reuse the pin assembly then your ok as long as you don't damage the rail.

    ^^^

Also, if you have a vice, you can use a small block of wood with a hole for the top of the twistlock pin, add something like thin wood or leather on the bottom of the pin, and press it out with the vice that way. Or, there's the hammer.
