I would never have imagined that my printer, at default settings, could actually produce functioning autococker threads, but I was wrong. Still not the right material, but given the cost, it's practically a disposable part.

Lil' Stumpy didn't understand the complexities of the Tippmann detent, and he didn't feel the need to be beholden to anybody else's crappy detents anymore, so he got new detents.
Lil' Stumpy is pleased so far with the new detents.

Lil' Stumpy says there's space to put 7 of them in there to prevent doublefeeds, but I think that's a little excessive. I'm trying to bargain him down to 2.

Yeah, gotta find ways to squeeze in time. Being able to do meaningful CAD work on the tablet is a huge boost -- I modified detents and the adapter while waiting for lunch today. My printer is to the point where I can just come home and press "print" as long as I don't have to swap filament.
PEEK would be awesome, but that filament is stupid expensive at this time. Hell even the pellets are expensive.
Like one of these adapters would be ~$10 for plastic alone at current prices. (Compared to ~$0.25 at PLA prices.)
That said... uh... if you ever get to the point where you can print PEEK, even at current prices, I wouldn't mind having a one-off...

So uh... this started as a joke but... I think this might actually be useful. If I want to vary detent performance, I can go from 1 detent all the way to 7, all in the same adapter...

Just normal PLA for the adapter and Ninjaflex for the detent. I am a simple man of simple means.
Manually cycling it, it works just fine, except it seems the recovery time for the rubber isn't as fast as a spring detent. Might not matter since it has to wait for the bolt to clear all the way before a new ball can even load in.
I think everything else, including durability, will pan out.
Will need to field test...

and the consume-ability of it being printed really doesn't need you to make it of a better material.
pla should be a great test for the field.
oh and as you know pla is super easy to print.

Well, it routinely hits 100F+ in the shade where I am, and that may wind up softening up the PLA. Plus you know car temps reach into the 140F's.
Of course, at current prices, I'd literally have to destroy 40 PLA adapters before a PEEK one would be cost-effective. (I still want one though!)
What would really be awesome is if fields kept a 3d printer on-hand at the field for printing up (and selling) field replacements on demand, particularly for dinky stupid things like detents.
They don't have to be perfect, and they don't have to last forever... they just need to be close enough to get you through the day. Field makes some extra cheddar, customer gets to continue playing (which in turn means the field makes some more cheddar again).
And it's not like printers for such things are expensive; mine was only $400, came pre-assembled, and handles flexible filament out of the box. And they're constantly getting cheaper.
In fact, now that I think about it... if I ever upgrade or get a second printer, maybe that's where this one will go.
But really, the barrier isn't the printer anymore. The other barrier used to be software, but now all of that is free. (Clearly I am too cheap to shell out for any of that.) And the free stuff is pretty damn good.
The barrier is just the brainpower to drive the tools now.
And you know, if manufacturers would stop mis-designing stupidly complicated things, that'd be OK too.

Ok, can someone enlighten me here? I have been following this thread but what exactly is lil' stumpy? I see it is for first strikes, but for what? Is this a first strike cocker threaded adapter for an automag similar to Doc's adapters?

Technically, Lil Stumpy was just the first test piece to house the new system.
Anyways, for those not up to speed, this is pretty much like Docs mag to cocker adapter.
I think I'm going to call the new adapter “The Cold Fusion”, with Dual Sphincter™ Technology.
I ran about 200 rounds through the Bunamag with three Adjustable Sphincter Detents installed against a Rip Clip at the highest settings. No double feeds; also tilted the gun down and shook it a bunch. Paint size was about .685.
Recovery time seemed sufficient, zero observable wear on the detents, and I still had space for 4 more to be installed.

I like what you did with that Mini reg; been planning something similar for a pump gun too. How are you getting the air? Through the top with an adapter?
The 3/8" rails are kinda small; not sure if I would trust those to be 3d printed (Picatinny is nice and large). I think the rail part proper should probably be metal, but the rest of the mating adapter could be 3d printed. I am not familiar with Ions at all though.

Uhm... there are different Rip Clips? I'm thinking this might be a "newer" model. I only use it for testing or when the spring feed might be too exposed to elements.
Top rail is from an Empire Trracer. Good ol' fashioned epoxied that sucker right onto the steel body; couldn't find any other way to really attach it. Need someone to put weld nuts on the top of my body and all my crap will have a nice hard mountpoint.
