    That's cool.

Is the lower finish quality a problem with the printing process itself? Or is it just because of some settings you have to tweak (kinda like "draft" printing on a regular printer)?

    no not really,
this one was unique in that i just wanted to get it made to test. so i printed it. i was laying down fatter layers than i needed to but still came out great. settings are "tweaked" so to speak.
its kinda the concept of draft printing in a way. but not. i would have to explain it in a video or something.
but i get what you are asking, yes if i ramp the speed up crazy it will not like it.

i calibrated my flow and distance and the eprom and we are good.

Very cool. I got into 3D printing this past year as well.

What printer/slicer are you running? I picked up Simplify3D but have yet to do anything with it.

    I use simplify mostly,
ill write my own gcode when needed, and when I say that its usually just to mod speeds, feeds and retractions on certain layers, etc

simplify is very powerful. just need to understand the ins and out of it.

ill use slic3r too and prusas version of slic3r,

    iv used cura,
also kisslicer as well that one use to be my favorite. but that was along time ago.

    I run a stacker s2, prusa i3 MK3 and an E3D bigbox.
ill be throwing up a tour video some time.

Video of update to whats going on to come later tonight.
safety, frame, evolution of the trigger
i don't edit my videos so i record them watch them, and if they look good to me they go up. that's kinda the short model for videos i'm using, as you can tell in the quality of the videos.
down the road as i get better with editing things will hopefully get better.

I've messed with Cura (at least 6 or 7 different builds) and Slic3r as well. I really didn't like the differences in build quality between different prints in either program which led me to pick up simplify. I've never even begun to write my own code, although I should along with a temp tower to figure out the best options without destroying builds.

I'll watch through your vids when I get the chance.
