I know, this didn't feel like much of a pre-order. We just paid and it's already in the mail. As for anodizing, I haven't decided yet, I was thinking caustic, but arc anodizing, stained works, annoworkz and precision color techniques all seem like good options as well based on their portfolio. If anyone has any strong recommendations or feedback I'd be interested.

Last time I contacted FX he had moved and hadnt set up anodizing yet.

But I contacted him and he is up and running, so if he will take the job I will be using him.

Who did you end up using for your test run on anodizing, Luke? I think we are all eager to see how that played out and the start of you offering finished products instead of just raw.

The SS spring cup can be a hassle to install and remove if you just drop it in and try to move it into place. However there is a trick that makes it easy. I made an instillation tool to install and remove the cup but you can use your AGD valve for the same purpose. The tool I made also installs the clip (which wont work with the AGD valve) but a simple 1" dowel rod could be used in place of the valve.

First I install the ss cup into the end of the body then get the clip started, make sure the open side of the clip faces the bottom so you have easy access it through the sear slot for removal.
Once the parts are in place I hold the body vertical then slid the clip and cup into place. There is a distinctive 'click' when its installed.

To remove, just use a pick to get one end of the clip out of the groove and work the pick in a circular motion under the bottom edge until it's free (Just like the AGD round clip). Work it out of the body, then install the AGD valve, hold the body up vertical, lower the valve and the ss cup will slide out.

Hope that makes sense. There is a small learning curve but it's real simple if you follow the procedure. If you need more info please let me know.

Without the installition tool or 1" dowell pin to instal the clip follow instructions to install the SS cup into the bottom of the cavity, then just work the clip into place as you would on the AGD version, it takes a little longer but is doable.

I'm undecided if I should get an emag frame or keep it mechanical.... I got 2 anodizes in mind that I think would look badass.

Luke, just got the Armada body and rail. Have to say, I'm glad I got in on this this time around. Once again pics don't do this combo justice.

That will go out priority tomorrow, sorry for the screw up, I missed those on another rail too.

Just so you know it's not proprietary sear pin, it's an off the shelf stainless steel pin. 1/8" diameter at least 1/2" long. It's the same pin I use for trigger pins.
The screws are 4-40 1/8" long, same as trigger pins and safeties.

Anyone know of its possible to get a marker "clear" anodized with a tumbled finish like that? I never thought about it but the tumbled aluminum with black accents looks pretty rad

It is possible but I don't know of anyone that has, I like the look too.

The design was modified slighly from the first run, correct? Because I didn't like the "chunkiness" of the first run, but this run seems more appealing with extra material milled off the top corners.

If it ever gets to a V3 where that side milling starts to wrap around the top tube a lot more, i'll probably pull the trigger on one. Would love to see like an armada "mohawk" running down the top tube from where those curves should intersect.

That's ridicules (in a good way) that you would pick that up! lol
It was fine tuned to extremely small degrees, to the tune of 1/32"

Way ahead of you on the Armada V3 design, but it will be awhile as I'll be working on other designs. The V3 would be a brand new design only loosely based on the original body and rail.

Mark me down for another Armada, may need to add a slot to the party

Something this beautiful really needs a matching feedneck...

    Also stokes my daydreams of:

I'll give you dibs, just let me know if you decide not to buy it so I can let others have a shot at it. Thanks
