    Spyder pump

Im turning my old spyder victor into a pump. Ive read totorials and done all the research, just waiting on some spare parts to get here just in case i mess up. When I get everything in I will post progress and pictures.

Just wondering if anyone here has done one?
Anything I should watch out for?

    Thanks

Question. Are you actually deactivating the blowback?

I've seen a lot of "spumps" on which the bolt is not connected to the hammer, so the lower tube automatically re-cocks and but you have to chamber each ball manually with a pump assembly attached to the bolt (usually they have return springs). They aren't legal for most pump-based games and tourneys, but after some getting used to they're REALLY smooth and fun to shoot.

If you are deactivating the blowback, I'd say use dual pump arms and a secondary guide... Since there's no sled or backblock they tend to be more sloppy, but that'll help make things more smooth.

yeah it will be true pump, no blowback, ill be slotting the striker, and jb welding the pin.
i found the trilogy pump kit pretty cheap so thats where im starting with the pump kit.

Hmm, well I'd say you should at least set up a secondary guide for the pump.

With that setup, a 2nd pump arm is a not really feasible.

I think somebody over on MCB completed one recently.

i like how clean that one on mcb is...i dont know what im going to end up with but im hoping it wont look like a spyder when im done, first ill get it functional then worry about anything cosmetic. im just bored, i want something to do until my m-90 gets here.

got the pump kit in, slotted the striker, and cut the bolt, now im making a bracket to go from the bolt to the pump rod. still waiting for the jb weld to dry completely so i can round out the pin. pics will be up soon

anybody know how to stop it from sputtering when its shot. the striker is slotted, and doesnt have an oring on it. the valve pin is jb welded, and sanded round.

other than the sputtering this thing is pretty cool. I cant believe how easy turn this into a pump gun.

Maybe change your springing? If your valve pin is built up enough then you don't need the same valve dwell as it uses in semi mode. A lighter hammer and lighter valve spring might help.

i did every combination of springs, the sputtering got worse with lighter springs in the front. i have a heavy spring in front and a lighter spring in back and it still sputters. it doesnt sound like it will have a good velocity either. im out of air now so any more testing will have to wait till this weekend.

I figure spluttering is the hammer 'trying' to reset on it's own due to leakage around the valve pin.

If springs don't fix it, and you're determined to stay pump, you could try venting the body between the valve and the hammer.

yeah this gun is going to stay pump, so i could drill a hole in the body behind the valve and that should stop the sputtering right?

                            *should*

I've never done it before, but I'd guess the sputtering is the hammer getting partially re-cocked regardless of your other mods. By giving the air an easier escape route you should reduce/eliminate the sputtering. You want the hole as close as possible to the valve

i guess ill try something else first, i was thinking sealing the pin with an oring glued to the valve first. ill mess with it later.
