So, today took some trash to the dump. Looked down and saw a new looking cooler and some other stuff and a decent looking desktop. Popped the case open and its looked alright! So brought it home blew it out with my air compressor. (think thats probably a no-no normally) It's a Compaq Presario SR1000 with a Celeron D it had two sticks of ram just laying when I opened it and it also had a cooler master heatsink, that also was laying there. I assume its aftermarket. So far ive popped out all the drives and tried the hard drive on my other desktop. The hd didnt appear to work. It just booted up my BIOS and then black line flashing so maybe they cleared it before they took it to the dump? The cpu is on the heat sink still (right?) the pins are pretty bent and it doesnt seem to want to go back into the slot on the mobo. There was quite a large amount of dust and sand inside too. Everything does look pretty good though. There are plenty of pictures in that link. I guess what I am asking is what should I do/try next?
Edit: tried the two sticks of ram in my desktop bios didnt seem to find em. Also tried the dvd player that didnt seem to register either.
Good news though, I powered the thing up and it did power up fans and heat sink work so the power source is good. Bad news nothing loaded on the screen probably becuase I cant get the CPU to clip back into the mobo?
terra lite or something like that nothing better than high powered weapons and explosions. a good 5-6lbs should do it for ya
